The most progressive sector is IT/Service Provider, and it has a very good concept of ‘WFH’ ie Work From Home. Still, there are many firms which do not support this , and want there employees to show physical presence as well.
But I’ m actually in support of it, Whys so? Let me make it clear in the coming lines.
IT… people are actually preferring it, as it has money, luxury and moreover roaming abroad that too free of cost. Now as money comes in, so are the demands to spent life in luxury to own a house, to shop in multiplex, to watch film in Cineplex, to own a 4-wheeler…and what not!!!!
Even if we consider 1 % of people are working in IT industry in India, and only 1% of the number calculated , commute with their own 4-wheeler/2-wheeler, sit at home and work, how much congestion. Traffic jams, blockage could be avoided?
People come from small town to big cities for job, and now with job and money who wouldn’t prefer to own a vehicle. Just read this in Pune times that everyday 600 new vehicles lands on city road…that’s a huge number….
We are in an attempt to make flyovers surrounding city, connecting two city…. With some estimation that it would have capacity of some random number, but why don’t we think the case that it is an always increasing number and with TATA NANO (although I salute Mr Ratan Tata for such a nice work- for common man) , is there any estimate how the graph would shoot up??
We can’t come up with rules , of banning the personal vehicle on road always use company’s transport… but we should really come out with something that’s beneficial for all.
I agree WFH has many disadvantages as well., but still the process is more environment friendly.
Keep Faith

I agree!
And as it is, the IT ppl do nohin more than log in to their messengers and chat away 2 glory!
Maybe they should work from home on 5 days and show their work at office/attend meetings on the 6th.
Lets propagate this wonderful idea.
But, tell me.. if u dont go 2 work.. how will u find tadka? at home??
@Kaua
take ur time dear:-)))
@VRij
I agree the picture u guys have....about IT profeessional is far far far away from reality...
u wont belive it...but IT profeesinal are the most stressful people in this world...
they are more prone to cardiac....due to oooooong working hrs....and obesity....
but right now my concern was on environment...hw cud we save it....:-))))
@ chakoli ...
i would say ... your idea is one of the most revolutionary and wonderful invention that could solve the traffic woes of the world ... and i frankly would definitely want to work from home ...
but ... the problem is that in todays IT environs, the data theft like that happenned in HSBC in bangalore (i think ...) involving some kashmiri man ... giving away the bank details / transferring money from HSBC customers without their consent / illegally is worth noting ...
and due to the above mentioned reason ... companies would find it hard to accept this otherwise wonderful idea !
@Vamsi
I agree that seurity would be majotr concern but with so many new technolies and s/w and guarding tools, we could also come out with some higly efficient tool to be used by employess...
I guess that's not at all a big deal.....
You know I just believe that our existence is until and unless this environment exists....so we we really wanna save our jobs, lives...family...save this environment:-))
Hmmm.. yep, I agree its quite stressful in the field, but from what my better half faces, its more to do with cranky bosses than with loads of work..
The problem arises when both parts of a couple WFH...then little work is done as one is often busy telling the other to fetch and carry..and by the end of the day you are looking forward to getting out of each others faces and back in a neutral office :)
Well WFH.. Isnt that a luxury? I did that for three months. But unfortunately had to go back.. LOL.. was good while it lasted.
and then after sometime, It kinda started getting on my nerves LOL..
Hi Chakoli,
Everything new for sure ... you have a new home, away from o3 ... looks good.
Okay now lemme come to the point ... I would love to WFH and believe me, if it is possible the organizations would not mind letting their employees WFH. but the fact of the matter is that since the IT/ES sector works on the client/server model there is a lot of client data which the employees work on all the time, and the reason the clients give out their data to the companies is that all these companies have been certified for some data security standards which they have to abide by. Hence even though i pray that my manager should not turn up everyday, he is bound to come :P
Regarding the traffic problem due to IT guys, I would say we just awarded Mr. E Sreedharan the CNN Indian of the year, for Delhi metro and even though the metro is still not running in south Delhi, i can assume when it comes, traveling by metro would be better compared to driving my own car in the snarling traffic.
Another strategy which IT companies, or rather all companies should adopt is to give cab facility to the level of people who generally come by their own vehicles, this would ensure that if 2 people are coming from the same area they will not use 2 but one car.
And finally WFH might not be the most efficient way considering that most work we do relies on a team effort.
Cheers!
Sumit
@vrij...
hehhehehhehee
BOSSES are always BAdnaam...hw hard they try....
they can never win any of the employees:-)))
@morpheus....
LOL...
inrtsting thought actually:-)))
But that would also be fun na....
a bit of work and a bit of romance.....hehhehehehhe:-)))
it would be DAL FRY WITH TADKA:-))
@anonymous
I agree its luxuxry...wake at 12/1....or sleep at 4 ....
drink/ eat sleep.....
I really envy you...3 months...that was alooong time:-)))
@aj
why on nerves??
@sumit
Thanks for the visit dear...I didnt left o3 although, my ofc people blocked it:-(((
and about the adta security, I agree concerns are there.... but those could be sorted out.../we our daily with a new techie, so to come out with somehting which could actually prevet our data is not a big deal...I agree loophole sare there...but still... we could try...atleast...our kids cud have a btter env to live...isnt??:-))
Like you said WFH has its disadvantages as well which keeps bosses from readily promoting this concept. One way to make this work is if your immediate manager ticks off a list created by you which lists down what you will achieve in the time you are working from home. Just some thoughts.
On a differnt note for a environmental friendly alternative, I read today that Pool your car on SMS is a neat option too! I drive my car singly to work - I can pool!
interesting thots there.. i for one would LOVE to work from home...i have never had the opportunity, but if i did, id grab it with both hands!
